The next sailing adventure is nearly underway. Currently at Mooloolaba which is north of Brisbane, waiting for a weather window to leave and head for Noumea, New Caledonia.
I have joined a Fountaine Pajot Helia 44, only a year old its a fabulous catamaran with acres of space compared to a monohull.
I’m lucky enough to have my own private cabin and ensuite, and am currently living aboard in Mooloolaba marina.
Will be heading south in a couple of days to Southport to check out with customs and immigration, it will also give us a slightly better angle with the wind to Noumea.
You can track progress here !!

Hi Simon, what a fantastic yacht – and loving the tracking tool. If you’re still going to Vanuatu hope things aren’t too desperate there.
Yes John, its a cracking boat !! First catamaran I’ve been on and its HUGE !! Still going to Vanuatu so hopefully they will have recovered sufficiently.
I had a look on the maker’s website and their boats did look amazing – you’d be more at home moored up for the Monaco GP next weekend. One question – why the going back on yourself part way across? Was that a tracking glitch or did you lose your hat overboard?
A glitch with the interweb/GPS there I think !! Other people said the same but we never turned around at any point. We dodged a storm and went slowly for a short while as we broke a sail but never went backward !!
Please will you hurry up and write another blog – we want to know what you are up to whilst in harbour for two weeks!!
